Coffee drinks explained: Must haves on your coffee menu

Consumers are being more adventurous when it comes to trying new drinks, nearly half of consumers* are likely to try a new beverage when they visit a coffee shop! It’s more important than ever to have a wide choice of coffee drinks available to your customers, alongside the nations favourites here’s some more must haves for your menu!

The Ristretto

A "short shot" of a more highly concentrated espresso coffee. It is made with the same amount of coffee but extracted using half as much water. Its intensity really concentrates the rich aromas and acidity. The Ristretto drinker does not mess around!

The Doppio Espressio

Doppio means double in Italian, so twice the volume and twice the enjoyment with this drink!

Espresso Macchiato

An Espresso Macchiato is one single shot of espresso dotted attractively with a spot of foamed milk

Espresso Con Panna

An Espresso Con Panna is a delightfully decadent twist on the classic cappuccino. Instead of milk froth and foam, the espresso and steamed milk is topped with whipped cream

Iced Drinks

Sales of Iced Coffee have increased year on year! Whilst they are typically purchased in the summer months, Iced Coffee can be an all year-round opportunity*. Having Iced Coffee on your menu will help to capture the attention of the younger generation, it is the ideal drink for the younger consumer because they tend to be aesthetically pleasing… which may lead to free social media marketing for your business!

Here’s some Iced Coffee inspo for your menu:

Iced Latte

The Iced Latte is the perfect espresso drink to cool down with on a summers day, it is a delicious combination of ice cold milk and rich, strong espresso. Made a blender or in a cocktail shaker (shakarado) and poured over ice – Originally from Italy, you may see the name “Freddo Latte” or “Shakarado Latte” on some menus!

You may also see Iced Cappuccino on some coffee menus, this is the same principle! A classic cappuccino mixed with cold milk, slightly less foam and poured over ice cubes in a tall glass.

Espresso Over Ice

A fabulous mix of sugar sweetened espresso poured over ice cubes or crushed ice, normally serviced with a straw. Italians refer to it as ‘Caffe Shakerato’!
