In 1753, Egbert Douwes opened his first coffee shop in Joure, the Netherlands. More than a century later, in 1895, Johann Jacobs started his first grocery shop in Bremen, Germany. In 1966, Alfred Peet opened his first Peet's Coffee shop in Berkeley, California.
