Where does coffee come from?

Coffee grows in tropical and subtropical regions around the equator.Major producing continents are Africa, Latin America, and Asia.The ideal growing conditions are temperatures between 17 and 23°C, fertile soil, and sufficient rainfall.Arabica grows best at higher altitudes (800 to 2,300 meters), while Robusta can also grow at sea level.

The journey: from coffee berry to coffee moment

From plant to cup: after growing, harvesting, and processing, coffee beans are sorted, blended, roasted, ground, and packaged to deliver the perfect aroma for your coffee moment.

1. Cultivation & Harvesting

Coffee plants take 3 to 5 years to reach maturity. The cherries ripen in 8 to 12 months and are gradually harvested, either by hand or by machine.

2. Processing (pulping)

The removal of the fruit flesh is done using either the wet method (washed) or the dry method (sun-dried).

3. Sorting & grading

The beans are selected on shape, size and quality

4. Blending

Beans from different origins are combined to create a balanced taste and aroma.

5. Roasting

Through heating, the beans change color and develop aroma and flavor. The roast profile determines the intensity of the taste.

6. Cooling

Rapid cooling preserves the aroma and stops the roasting process.

7. Grinding

Grind size is crucial: coarse for a French press, fine for espresso.

8. Packaging

Airtight, protective packaging prevents loss of aroma due to light and oxygen.
